Dear Dairy: January 2019

Jumper Zara | Skirt Zara | Boots River Island

I've decided at the end of every month I will write dear dairy posts, basically a post on what I have been up to that month. This will be good for me to look back on in the future but also hopefully will give you some ideas of places to go and things to do.

I actually started the month off with a lovely spa weekend at Champneys in Tring. Which was the perfect detox for the beginning of the year. I had three treatments that are apart of their gold package you can see here. I think my favourite was the facial, writing about this now is making me really want to have another spa weekend. What better way to spend your weekend than a little pamper and walking around in your dressing gown all day.

I've gone to a couple of career focus events this month, alongside leaving my job. I will talk about this in another post. When I started to look for new jobs on my phone, lots of ads starting appearing on my Instagram feed. I found a couple of events to attend one was with Jolt which was all about how to future-proof your career and freelancing. If you are looking to change up your career or just develop within your current role I would highly recommend attending different workshops and events. They had a panel of guess speakers including Emma Gannon. It was really interesting to hear how industries are fast changing and how important it is to have more than one skill and source of income for the future.

The second event I went to was with The Ambition Plan I think this was my favourite event out of the two as it was focused on blogging. The Ambition Plan describe themselves as 'helping professional women escape unfulfilling 9-5 jobs & discover work they love.' As someone who is just starting my blog back up again and have just left my job I needed all the inspiration I could get. The talk had four bloggers Pixie Turner, Em Sheldon,  Alex In Colour  and I'm Lauren Black. I have to say the best bit of advise was about being yourself and not just following everyone else. Em put it really well by saying 'You are your own niche. Being you already makes you unique.' I left both events feeling really inspired and wanting to get started with some good work!

Another fun thing that happened this month was the launch for tonight Josephine Shoreditch, myself and my friend Alex from work found tickets to this event on Facebook. It was £10 each for 2 cocktails and entry to the bar. If your a girly girl who loves pink, you will love this bar! It is a little bigger than the one in waterloo. I would recommend if you want to go here to pre-book a table because the bar is still fairly small! We were lucky as upon arrival we got told the first 30 people get a goodie back and a free drink in the bar next door. So I have to say it was £10 well spent.

Myself and my friend Lucy decided to plan a little surprise day out for our Mum's. (They have been friends since school!) We booked a bottomless brunch at Bunga Bunga in Covent Garden, and it's safe to say we all had soooo much fun! For £46 you get lots of Italian food, and unlimited prosecco  and they certainly don't hold back on the food and drinks! As well as all of this you also get fantastic entertainment! It's a little like a live west end show while you are eating and drinking, everyone ends up getting up and dancing. And towards the end they have Karaoke! However we decided to enjoy watching others rather than getting up ourselves! It is worth noting however that this venue is 21+.

January has been a fun month and I'm looking forward to seeing what February holds especially as it is my birthday month!
