Today I wanted to talk to you about Shopping The Smart Way. As I think I may have pretty much nailed this recently?! Say what...coming from the girl who used to spend way too much money each month on clothes and have piles of things in my wardrobe I would forget I even had.

But before that, let me talk you through my outfit as it's one that I've been wearing again and again lately. I love a good old pretty skirt or dress, but I'm also a basic tee and jeans kinda girl on some days. I suppose it depends what I wake up feeling like in the morning! But that's the best thing about style you can mix it up and change things all the time. I'm a real sucker for seeing things on the internet mainly Instagram and wanting them in my wardrobe instantly. (How I found the above tee) I found this quote on Pinterest the other day and feel like it sums up my life completely right now. 'I wish that every time I 'liked' an outfit on Instagram it would magically appear in my closet.' Slogan Tee's seem to be getting more popular at the moment and I love this 'Gucci' inspired one from Topshop. They probably have the best selection of slogan tees at the moment. Teamed with some ripped jeans and converse I feel like not a lot of thought has gone in to this outfit yet it still looks good and makes me feel confident when I wear it. (Which is the most important thing of course!)

This year I really wanted to try and shop in more of a smart way. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the new in sections of stores (or online) and get caught up in the hype of buying new clothes when you see things on Instagram (like the above), but if you select the right things and make more careful decisions you will end up having a better wardrobe and save so much money. I had a couple of big clear outs this year, which has given me the opportunity to actually see what's in my wardrobe....it's amazing when you have a clear out how many things you re-discover that you completely forgot you had!

Recently, I've tried to make more wise decisions when it comes to clothes. I no longer want to buy items that sit in my wardrobe for weeks, months or years and never get worn. At the end of the day we all work pretty damn hard for our money so there is no point wasting it on things that we will not get a lot of use out of.

When it comes to my personal style, I'd say I do not really fit in to one 'type' of category, I like a mixture of most trends really, prints, bright colours, monochrome, current trends, simple looks, stand-out pieces. (Not all worn together, obviously.) But now I try to think about purchases more before I splurge and ask myself a few questions 1) Do I have anything else in my wardrobe this item will go with? 2) Can I see myself wearing this a lot? 3) Is it worth the money I am paying for it? If I feel like I have the right answers to these questions, I'll then go ahead and make that purchase.

And when it comes to online shopping....which I feel can sometimes get more out of hand and more dangerous than shopping in stores. (Does anyone else buy multiple items with the intentions of sending some back and never do? I feel I've been very guilty of this on ASOS in the past.) So now I'll save my items, most popular online stores have this feature. (Whoever came up with this idea is a pure genius.) I'll save things for a week or so then if I still have the item(s) on my mind I'll make the purchase.

These are just some of my ways in which I try to be more smart in my shopping habits.
Do you have any tips?

Love
Nicole
