When the colder months creep up on us, it's so easy to get stuck in a rut with your wardrobe. It's easy to fall in to the hole where you just wear the same clothes over and over because you know what's comfy and what's going to keep you really warm. And it's also easy to stay clear from colour.

I'm a true believer that colour can really change your mood. I tend to turn to colours that make me happy and feel good when I need that little extra boost in the mornings. Colours were not just made for the summer months. You can easily embrace colour in to your winter looks, with very simple steps.

If your a little shy with adding colour than you can take baby steps first! I always turn to accessories if there is a trend/colour I'm more shy about. This is an easy way to add colour to an outfit without too much statement. I adore this french connection scarf and love how it has a mixture of black and two shades of pink. You can pick up so many beautiful scarfs on the high street all different patterns and colours and they make the perfect finishing touch to any outfit... (plus they are super warm and cosy!)

Next up my shirt from Jack Wills, I haven't shopped in there for about 5 years up until this Summer when I decided to have a little look in their Notting Hill store, a few shopping bags and a small damage to my cards later I left with some amazing goodies! It's always worth looking in stores you don't necessarily buy things from, because you may surprise yourself and end up finding some nice things. While on this particular shopping trip I bought a plain pink shirt wore it (and still do) loads and loads. So when I saw the stripe version it was a no brainer I just had to buy it as I knew it would be a staple in my wardrobe (I'm sure thats my reason for half my shopping!) Although this is a summer item, as it has long sleeves and can be worn with a coat/jumper/or jacket. It can easily be taken from Summer to Winter. And the colour isn't too out there!

There seems to be so much pink going on in this outfit, but I love it and pink makes me super happy. Next up my converse, I have to say over the years converse have really upped their game and they have some great designs. I brought these about 3 years ago and still love them. These work so well teamed with the shirt and scarf!

However when wearing colour you don't want to go too over the top that your outfit just looks like a colour explosion. So I always like to team colours with darker items of clothing, this is were my leather jacket comes in very handy. This literally goes with almost every other outfit in my wardrobe, I've had it for about 5 years now and it's lasted pretty well. Denim jeans are always good teamed with more colourful items as it gives a good balance between brighter and more wearable colours!

Hope you enjoyed this post, do you embrace colours to your winter looks?

Love
Nicole
