A few weeks back for my 21st Birthday, Glyn treated me to a trip to Venice. I've been to Italy before to Florence with my family and I've wanted to go back and travel more of Italy ever since so I was super excited about this trip.

We stayed in the hotel Saturnia which was such a beautiful hotel, very typical Italian old fashioned decor which added to the experience. And this hotel is in the most perfect location about 2 minutes walk from St Marks Square and in the middle of all the best shops.

On our first day we arrived to our hotel on water taxi which was very expensive but we wanted to enjoy the whole Venice experience. We then explored a little and took a tour on a gonderlore, which was so relaxing and a perfect way to see the city. On our first night we had dinner at the hotel resturant, I had steak and Glyn had a fish dish and they were both amazing! We then enjoyed some cocktails at the hotel bar. (I'm pretty sure I made my way through most of the cocktails list on our trip!)

Our second day was Valentine's Day and we did a little more exploring and went up the Venice viewing tower. But it was very very cold! We then went on a long walk around the island, getting lost a few times! In the evening we took a boat bus across to another island where there was a Hilton hotel. We had a lovely Valentine's meal in the hotel and then went to their rooftop bar which was lovely and had fab views!

On our finial day we took a trip to Murano, which is the island of glass making. We witnessed a glass making demonstration which was excellent. It was crazy just how fast these people can make such wonderful creations. (Like the horse in the photo above.) They were very talented. We were very sad to leave Venice as it is such a beautiful city with lots going on. We could have easily stayed for more than a couple of nights.

What's your favourite European City? We would love to visit more!

Love

  1. I am currently debating whether to go to Venice in April. It looks so pretty! Sounds like you had an amazing weekend.
